Schola Gregoriana del Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra. Created in 1911, the same year that academic training in music began at the Scuola Superiore di Musica Sacra. The main purpose of the Schola is the constant exercise of Gregorian chant providing students with mastery and competence in the matter. In this way, at the end of their studies, when they return to their respective dioceses, they will disseminate their experience as Chapel Masters at Cathedrals or teachers at diocesan sacred music schools. The Schola actively collaborates with Vatican Radio and participates in papal liturgies in the Sistine Chapel. Many Students of the Istituto have subsequently founded their own Scholae Cantorum and perform Gregorian chants in the liturgy, in concerts (United States, 2018) and in high level festivals (Watou, 2018, and Krakow, 2019).
