When Naples sings: traditional Neapolitan music

The repertory proposed by Neapolis Ensemble shows the game in which composers such as Adrian Willaert, Orlande de Lassus, Pergolesi and many others have taken part during their activities: the blurring between the popular musical culture and elite music. These composers brought to life thousands of villanelle in Neapolitan language, and included the tarantella and the song in the opera buffa. This concert is a summary of Neapolitan elite and popular musics from Gesualdo da Venosa to Scarlatti and composers anonymous who created many songs in that period.
