The Spanish Song
The members of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía presents a complete historical tour through Spanish songs dating from the first half of the eighteenth century to the late twentieth century. This program includes music by widely recognised composers such as Antonio Literes or José de Nebra in the eighteenth century, Fernando Sor, Manuel García, Enrique Granados, Jesús Guridi in Ernesto Halffter, Joaquín Turina, Antón García Abril or Federico Moreno Torroba, among others, as well as lyrics by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Federico García Lorca and Antonio Gala.

Annya Pinto, soprano. She was born in Lota (Chile) in 1990. From 2019 she has been studying with Professor Ryland Davies at the Cátedra de Canto “Alfredo Kraus” Fundación Ramón Areces in the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. She teaches at the Universidad de Concepción and has performed the Lutheran Massa by J. S. Bach, the Poulenc’s Stabat Mater and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with the Europa Galante and Fabio Biondi in the Palau de les Arts in Valencia as well as at the Musikfest Bremen (Germany).
Maylín Cruz, soprano. She was born in Holguín (Cuba) in 1995. From 2019 she has been studying with Professor Ryland Davies at the Cátedra de Canto “Alfredo Kraus” Fundación Ramón Areces in the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. She began her musical training at the Escuela Profesional de Artes Manuel Muñoz Cedeño, specialising in oboe. At the age of fifteen, she was accepted in the Conservatorio de Música José María Ochoa where she studied singing, finishing her studies in 2014 with the highest qualification. She has received master classes from Konrad Jarnot and Francisco Araiza. Between 2015 and 2018 she worked as a soloist at the Teatro Lírico de Holguín Rodrigo Prats (Cuba).
Jorge Puerta, tenor. He was born in Caracas (Venezuela) in 1986. He has been studying with Professor Ryland Davies at the Cátedra de Canto “Alfredo Kraus” Fundación Ramón Areces in the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía from 2019. He has received master classes from Konrad Jarnot and Francisco Araiza. He was a member of the Coral Nacional Juvenil Simón Bolívar of Venezuela, and has performed at the Royal Festival Hall in London and at the Chorfest of Frankfurt. He also participated in the performance of Gustav Mahler’s Eighth Symphony at the Salzburg Festival with the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
Madalit Lamazares, piano. She was born in La Habana (Cuba). From 2000-2001 she worked as piano accompanist at the Cátedra de Canto “Alfredo Kraus” Fundación Ramón Areces in the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. She is currently working with Professor Ryland Davies and Rosa Domínguez and, previously, she worked with Tom Krause and Teresa Berganza, among others. She began her musical studies in her hometown. Later, she moved to Venezuela and obtained a degree in “Profesora Ejecutante de Piano” at the Conservatorio Juan Manuel Olivares in Caracas. At the same time, she studied at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in that city, where she finished her Bachelor of Letters.
