Per aspera ad astra: of the earthly and the sublime

The Baroque music is full of sound symbolism. The composers’ techniques in this area ranged from such straightforward relationships as a three-note chord standing for the Hole Trinity to more complex associations, namely, that between the chromatic scale and the lament. The extraordinary thing is, though we may not be able to crack the code, we may identify the prevailing emotion of the pieces we listen to. The audience is invited to immerse in the musical poetry of Bach, Händel and Mozart to discover their vision of human trials and the comfort of the faith (text by Anna Melnikova).
