Keyboard music in New Spain (sixteenth to eighteenth centuries)

 

This program started with the idea of presenting a series of paradigmatic composers, authors of keyboard works which were circulated and used in New Spain between the sixteenth and the eighteenth centuries, confirming their reception in the vast cultural circuit of which they were part.

Gustavo Delgado, organ

Gustavo Delgado Parra, organ. Composer, organist, harpsichordist and musicologist. Member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI 2), member of the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias (AMC), president of the Academia Mexicana de Música Antigua para Órgano (AMMAO) and director of the Festival Internacional del Órgano Barroco (FIOB). Awarded the Premio Universidad Nacional 2013 in artistic creation and extension of culture. Winner of several national and international competitions of composition. In 2008 he obtained a Unique Mention in the prize of Musicology of the Casa de las Americas. Professor of the Bachelor’s and Postgraduate Music program at the FaM-UNAM, and of the Escuela Superior de Música (INBA). Doctorate in Musicology Cum Laude by the Universidad Politécnica in Valencia, Spain, obtaining also the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. In 2008 he held a postdoctoral residence at the Oxford University School of Music attached to Queen’s College and at the CSIC in Barcelona.
